I really wanted the Ojas Bookshelf speakers. There are two ways to get your hands on them: you can purchase a “kit” for $2,150, which includes the parts for Ikea-style DIY construction, or shell out $5,500 for the fully assembled version. Both are offered in limited quantities via the Ojas website.

I decided to build my own set from scratch. The kit’s assembly instruction provided the dimensions, materials, and components used in the kit, and I was able to calculate the more intricate measurements (i.e., the rebate diameter and size of the port) using product images and simple pixel-per-inch calculations on Photoshop.

With my very limited tools and a weekend worth of work, I was able to build my own set of Ojas Bookshelf Speakers for $1,027 - an 80% and 50% discount to the assembled and kit versions, respectively. They are spectacular. I am incredibly appreciative of Devon Turbull, his craftsmanship, and his success. He is actively introducing an entirely new generation to the space.

For anyone interested in DIY’ing the Ojas Bookshelf Speakers, below is a full list of the components (with links) and dimensions that I used for my set.
